Class Descriptions

PRE-BALLET (3-5 YRS): Learn fun dances, basic positions and creative movement while developing rhythm, coordination and a feel for classroom structure.

PRE-DANCE (41/2-6 YRS): Adds more complex rhythms and coordinations to the dance movements, then introduces Disney-style music with theatrical, jazzy style movements making it loads of fun for kids!

DANCE I: includes beginning Ballet barre, French ballet terms, and steps to gain placement and techniques—class ends with theater jazz, using age appropriate steps encouraging a stylish and fun freedom of expression.

BALLET: Incorporates Russian and Royal Ballet technique. Correct body placement and terminology are emphasized using graceful classic movement. A good base for developing body awareness, coordination, muscle tone and flexibility.

POINTE (11 YRS TO ADULT): Taken after basic ballet technique is mastered, and muscles and bones are strong. Instructor permission required.

JAZZ: Based on the smoothness of Luigi technique yet incorporating street funk styles. Dance types vary from Broadway to blues to Hip Hop video styles. An awesome class for youth or adults that develops coordination, flexibility and strength while having fun!

TAP: Exciting rhythms to music from Broadway classic Rogers & Astaire movies or street funk rhythms. Beginning classes learn basic technique and terminology – classes advance into soft shoe, waltz-clog, and buck-and-wing, with time steps galore!

SUMMER DANCE CAMPS (June-July): A chance to really make progress and have fun! Daily classes in weekly sessions, strengthens muscles, retains your "stretch" and accelerates learning as it’s easier to remember steps day to day. Students take Ballet, Jazz & Tap, have lunch together, learn stage makeup and choreography, and watch videos of famous dances and dancers. This is also a wonderful opportunity for students to talk informally with Juanita, and get aspiring dancers’ questions answered.

DANCE SEASON: Classes are based on a progression of skills. Terms, movements, and technique are learned beginning in August, then strengthened and incorporated into choreography for Spring Performances.

ANNUAL SPRING PERFORMANCE: An extravaganza of choreography, fun dances showing students progress, complete with stage lighting and beautiful costumes that you keep to dance in and create a lifetime of exciting memories!
